Who Played The Most Powerful Real World Card In Yu-Gi-Oh?

The Yu-Gi-Oh! anime featured a lot of incredibly powerful cards exclusive to the show but some characters used strong real-world cards as well.

10 The Sacred Beasts - Yu-Gi-Oh! GX

Dark Beings Who Would Bring Chaos to the World

Hidden deep under Duel Academy, the three Sacred Beasts are dark beings of incredible power. It is said that should they be released, the world would be engulfed in darkness and humanity would perish. Kagemaru, the leader of the Shadow Riders, wanted to possess their power to recover his youth and rule the world.

While their time on screen was limited, the power shown by the Sacred Beasts was outstanding. Not only were they able to alter reality at their whim, like making Kagemaru young again, but they could also directly hurt their opponents. Despite these abilities, they were defeated two times in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Gx series, proving that a skilled enough duelist would have no issue fighting these beasts.

9 The Seal Of Orichalcos - Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters

A Card That Could Steal the Soul of Its Target

Granted to the former King of Atlantis and talented duelist, Dartz, the Seal of Orichalcos is a powerful Field Spell imbued with the dark powers of the Great Leviathan. In a duel, this card would allow the user to use their Spell and Trap card zones to summon more monsters. The creatures on their side of the field would also be granted a small attack bonus.

Outside the game, this card was shown to have multiple powers, like the ability to read or control minds, project memories for others to see, and even manifest Duel Monsters in the real world. Nonetheless, the most terrifying ability of the Seal of Orichalcos was its soul-absorbing skill. Should they lose a game while this Field Spell was active, their soul would be taken from the body to feed the Leviathan.

8 The Egyptian Gods - Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters

Ancient Deities With Power Beyond Human Imagination

The living embodiment of the deities who would guard and protect Egypt in ancient times, Obelisk, Ra, and Slyfer are among the most powerful cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. Not only do these cards have a plethora of powerful effects to help them dominate during a duel, but they also have the power of the actual Egyptian Gods inside them.

As such, these beings were often seen utilizing supernatural abilities to help or punish humans. They could strike a duelist with lighting for playing with a fake copy of their card, or use their power to give their user a premonition. While not invincible, they were extremely strong, being able to defeat almost all monsters in ancient times.

Yu-Gi-Oh! has another trio of god cards, based on the Norse Gods, and they are so awesome that the franchise should have featured them a lot more.

7 Exodia the Forbidden One - Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters

A Being So Strong, It Had To Be Separated Into Five Pieces

Few beings would inject fear into the hearts of Egyptians as much as the mighty Exodia. Once an unstoppable force of destruction, the Forbidden One was captured and sealed in five different tablets to prevent him from ever coming back. In times of dire need, the pharaoh would release this monster to fight against imminent threats to their kingdom.

Exodia's powers are such that his Duel Monsters counterpart instantly wins the game for whoever can collect the five parts that compose his body. It was even said during the Memories of the Pharaoh arc in the series that the Forbidden One had a power greater than the Egyptian Gods.

6 Zork Necrophades - Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters

The Living Embodiment of Evil and Hatred

Better known as The Dark One in the English dub version, Zorc is a dark deity born from the darkness hidden inside humans’ hearts. This being is the embodiment of evil and his only objective is to destroy the universe and bring a new era of chaos. Due to darkness being the force that gave him power, Zorc’s abilities were nearly limitless.

The being could manipulate time, cause natural disasters, control minds, and even reincarnate himself after being destroyed. His power is such that not even Exodia or the three Egyptian Gods could defeat him in a fight. If not for Atem, this malevolent being would have completely wiped out life from the universe.

5 Crimson Dragon - Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds

The Physical Manifestation of an Ancient Galactic God

A being born from an ancient and sacred fire, this deity is the physical form of the ancient Dragon Star. With the help of his servants, the Signer Dragons, the Crimson Dragon managed to defeat the ancient devil known as Red Nova and his subjects, the Earthbound Immortals.

The Crimson Dragon was not only capable of defeating these evil beings, but it also had the power to absorb them and turn them into forces of good. The deity could also manipulate time and fate, although it still needed the help of humans to fully manifest itself on Earth. With its power, the Signers were able to prevent the world from ending several times throughout the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds anime.

4 Super Polymerization - Yu-Gi-Oh! GX

A Spell With the Ability To Control Reality Itself

A card wielded by the cruel and fearsome Supreme King, Super Polymerization is one of the most powerful Spells in the entire game. It can utilize any monster on the field as material for a Fusion summon. The Supreme King used it to rule over the Spirit World by turning his opponent's monsters into resources to summon his most powerful allies.

The card also hid a dark and impressive power, as it could fuse more than just monsters. Super Polymerization had the power to alter and destroy every dimension in existence. Yubel, the surprisingly deep main antagonist of season 3, wished to use its power to fuse themselves and Jaden into a single being, destroying 12 dimensions in the process.

3 Holactie the Creator Of Light - Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters

The Most Powerful Deity in All Duel Monsters

When the powers of the Egyptian Gods combine, the being who created them and all light in the universe is summoned. Holactie is a Goddess of good, responsible for gifting the ancient pharaohs the power to fight darkness. Due to her overwhelming power, she often decides not to involve herself in the matters of mortals, only showing herself when called by specific individuals.

Her powers are far greater than those of her creations, having the ability to create life as well as manipulate time and reality itself. During Zorc’s rampage during the final battle against the evil half of Bakura, Holactie is called to help Atem defeat the beast. In a flash, the Goddess erased the evil being from existence, as well as his dark influence across the universe.

2 Supreme King Z-Arc - Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V

An Evil Being Capable of Reshaping Reality

Considered in the past as the best duelist to have ever lived, Z-arc is an incredibly powerful and egotistical individual. After obtaining the power of each of the Dimensional Dragons, this duelist became a being powerful enough to destroy the entire universe. He needed to be stopped by his former best friend, who sealed him into four different vessels.

Even after his defeat, Z-arc never ceased in his pursuit of total domination, influencing the actions of his vessels to become whole again. This mighty ruler had the power to reshape the universe as he saw fit, erasing individuals from existence and even creating new life forms.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise has had a variety of crossovers between its many anime series, but its biggest crossover was also by far its darkest.

1 Number 100: Numeron Dragon - Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal

The Being Responsible for the Universe Itself

Ancient legends tell of a being of such power that existed before the universe was even created. Due to this creature’s loneliness, reality itself came into creation. This mighty beast is known as Number 100: Numeron Dragon, by far the most powerful creature in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. Not only is this being capable of creating all the universe by itself, but it could also create outstandingly powerful beings.

All the Numbers cards featured in the Zexal anime were created by the will of Numeron Dragon. Its power knows no bounds, perfectly encapsulated in the effect found on his playing card counterpart. By detaching an XYZ material, this monster can drastically increase its attack points, making it one of the most dangerous monsters in the game.
