We purchased this one-owner car back in July of 2016 with 18k miles on it to replace my wife’s 2007 Solara convertible SE. The previous owner bought it new here in Columbus, (at Tansky’s) and then promptly moved to North Carolina. She had owned a 2004 model year, and when she heard that 2008 was the final year for them she wanted to get a new one before they ended production. She developed MS several years later, and they moved back to Columbus in 2016 to be closer to family. She simply was no longer able to get in and out of the car. We kept it in storage and didn’t title it to drive until 2018. The SLE is the top of the line model while the SE is the entry level base model (the Sport is in the middle). The SLE convertible starts at $30,710 MSRP. This one was $32,199 plus taxes and fees (photo and receipt included).

Powered by the V-6 3.3L VVT-i engine with an automatic transmission with optional manual paddle-shift. Features: Zenon headlights, Heated Seats, 8-way Power driver's seat, Power mirrors, Power locks, cruise control, fog/driving lights, A/C, rear defogger, push button fully automatic convertible top, Premium factory sound system - JBL 7-speaker 6-disc stereo, 17" alloy wheels, 4 wheel disc ABS brakes, rear mirror with auto-dim and digital compass

Clear headlights and virtually no rock chips to the paint. We just had the Toyota factory installed clear hood bra removed from the mirrors and top of the hood. It did its job. The clear protective film is still on the lower front bumper / faring.

Engine & cabin air filters were just changed. Front & rear brake pads / rotors 5k miles ago, brake fluid flush ‘22, Front struts/springs and all stabilizer bar end links/bushings were new this spring. AC Delco battery (11/22), the factory spark plugs were literally just changed with Toyota factory (Denso/NGK) plugs earlier this month.

215/55R17 General Altimax RT43 Tires with 90% tread life left on them. They are rated at 80,000 miles (USTQ rating: Treadwear 700 Traction A Temperature A). Always rotated.

This car only has 56k miles on it. About 90% highway. Stop and go city miles are much harder on a vehicle. When others say that, they are usually completely full of it and just trying to sell you a car. It's simple math here: My wife commuted 28 miles each way to work at Riverside Hospital 5 days per week. That's 56 miles round trip x 5 days per week = 280 miles per week. Using April 1st through November = 35 weeks. 35 weeks x 280 miles = 9,800 miles annually. Then take out a few weeks of vacation. She used to average almost exactly 10k miles per year. Covid kind of screwed that up as she worked from home. She just retired in January. The passenger seat was probably sat in only about 50 times and the rear seat probably no more than 10 times.

My wife is a convertible girl through and through. Keep momma happy seems to be a bit of good life-long advice. She has formerly owned a ’99 Miata (fun cars if you are an absolute midget, don't need a back seat or a trunk, and/or you don’t suffer from a bad back/neck to be able to get in and out of it – Even changing the oil was designed to be done by someone with children’s hands) and 2 Chrysler Sebrings convertibles (just complete pieces of crap from start to finish - We tried to drive domestic, honest) before our first new 2006 Solara convertible, then a 2007 Solara convertible, and this 2008 SLE convertible. I am a Toyota guy – I drive a 2017 Tundra. The Solara is about as practical a vehicle as you can get for a 2-door convertible. It has a fully usable back seat and a very large trunk. Reliable thru and thru.

We had absolutely no intentions of selling this car any time soon. Like most Toyotas it runs like a sewing machine. They’re known to go for 250-300,000 miles. A nice piece of engineering on their part. I am essentially always looking for the “next” one. I found just that in October of ’22. It is literally identical to this one, a red 2008 SLE. It was in NY at a Toyota dealer with only 12k miles on it. I paid a premium for it ($23,863 out the door). Good, low-mileage examples are getting extremely hard to come by. Getting it was no fun: Fly to Chicago, layover, connecting flight to NY, Uber to the Greyhound station, Bus 2.5 hours to upstate NY to the dealership, then drive home arriving at 3:30AM. A long day. Typically I sell our vehicles to friends and family, but no one we know has the convertible itch. When I say we had no intentions of selling it I truly mean it, and we maintained it as such. I stored the “new” one at my mother’s house in suburban Cleveland, but she just announced that she is moving to assisted living 90 days from mid-May. I’m losing my parking spot. It is what it is. We’re going to drive that vehicle now and sell this one. I just transferred the license plates to the new car this morning.

This car has run synthetic motor oil from the day we got it. The oil & filter (exclusively Toyota OEM factory filters) was changed out every 5,000 miles with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Extended performance interval motor oil (It's technically a 15,000 mile interval oil). I just changed the oil 700 miles ago. The coolant was been drained / replaced in 2018 with Toyota factory Long & Super Long Life Coolant. The transmission fluid was just done at 54k (also at 18,500, 30,600, 44,469). A simple drain and fill (not flush) with genuine Toyota type IV/4 (full synthetic) fluid.

Includes: all 3 programmed keys (2 regular ones + 1 valet), a cut key (non-programmed) for door entry only, the 2 factory remotes which were never used by us so they are in mint condition, the Toyota factory touch-up paint, the owner's manuals along with all of the service records from us, a couple from the previous owner, and the service records from the Toyota service data base.

Multiple air filter and cabin air filter changes along the way (both were just done for this sale). Fluids were checked every week-end when it got washed. It was waxed a couple times per year with synthetic wax - Door/hood/trunk jambs too. Always garaged. Simply in need of nothing other than tire pressure sensors (4 brand new ones are included (pictured)). The light came on after the tires were replaced. Since the tires have to be removed to replace them, my thought was to just replace all of the sensors the next time that the tires were replaced. It drives, looks and sounds pretty much like a new one. I have a dated Car Fax that I ran when I was looking for another car (the service was unlimited for a month) - Showing nothing of note. We’ve never had any real issues, body/paint work or accidents of any kind. Just a super clean vehicle here.

Clear/clean Ohio title in hand. Easy to view and to test drive so long as it is a nice day outside as it is presently cleaned up and in storage for the sake of this sale. You won’t be disappointed.

Give us (Monte or Cynthia) a call, before about 830-845 PM EST Please, at 740 - nine six five – 23 23.
