Apple Music Reveals ‘100 Best Albums of All Time’ With Lauryn Hill, The Beatles (2024)

Apple Music has shared the much-anticipated top 10 of its 100 Best Albums of All Time collection. Selections 10-1 include releases from Stevie Wonder, Nirvana, Amy Winehouse, The Beatles, Kendrick Lamar, and more. Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill took the No. 1 spot. “This is my award, but it’s a rich, deep narrative, and involves so many people, and so much sacrifice, and so much time, and so much collective love,” Hill told Apple Music.

The top 10 selection features albums spread across the past 50 years. Nirvana’s landmark sophom*ore record, 1991’s Nevermind, arrives at No. 9, followed by Amy Winehouse’s second and final album, 2006’s Back to Black. The Deluxe version of Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 classic good kid, m.A.A.d city ranks No. 7 while Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life hits No. 6. The Beatles’ Abbey Road takes the No. 3 spot.

Other entries in the section include Lemonade by Beyoncé, Blonde by Frank Ocean, Purple Rain by Prince & the Revolution, and Thriller by Michael Jackson. Apple has unveiled the 100 Best Albums of All Time list over a series of 10 days. Each new section of the list has arrived with new and exclusive content and Apple Music Radio episodes. Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden were joined by musician and producer Nile Rodgers and the Grammy-nominated artist Maggie Rogers to reflect on the list in a broadcast for Apple Music.

Apple Music has stated that the list is an editorial effort independent of streaming numbers. It was assembled by a team that includes artists like Maren Morris, Pharrell Williams, J Balvin, Charli XCX, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, Honey Dijon, and Nia Archives, alongside other songwriters, producers, and music industry professionals.
