More #classaction legal trouble for Uber as a group of Las Vegas restaurants have filed a lawsuit against the ride share platform's food delivery service, Uber Eats.According to an 18-page complaint, Uber Eats, "allowed for any individual to claim to be a restaurant in Nevada, without requiring reasonable authentication from the requesting party."The lawsuit was filed in Clark County on Wednesday by Baby Stacks Café, Manizza's Pizza, Esther's Kitchen, and Gaetano's Ristorante. The restaurants claim that they are not on the Uber Eats platform and that other people pretended to be them on the platform and delivered lower-quality food to potential customers.Do you think more restaurants will join in on this lawsuit?     Change the colour filters on a photo and that well-done burger suddenly looks under 🍔Scary and sad to see the lengths customers go to in order to get a refund on that DoorDash, Uber Eats, or Deliveroo order. These costs add up for both platforms and restaurants.It's important to remember that behind every delivery order are hardworking restaurant owners, staff, and delivery personnel who strive to provide the best service possible.     This Forida senate bill creating trouble for Restaurant’s third party delivery companies! This article stuck out to me as Florida is looking to tighten regulations on 3rd party restaurant delivery services. One piece of this proposed law allows the restaurants to have direct communication with the customers, which is interesting as up to now the data and client communication has been strictly held by the delivery platform.     McDonald’s is broken 😠 Went to McDonalds yesterday. Usually the ice cream machine is broken but this time the whole drive thru was out of service so told on the speaker to go in. Then I just sat waiting for the order for ages whilst I watch all the uber eats and just eat guys coming in queuing to collect their delivery orders. It’s interesting to see how these restaurants have adapted to the introduction of outsourced delivery solutions. Because whilst it may not have been their intention, two things have happened.1. The service has been dehumanised, with technology replacing the human interaction. This means that if you have been waiting a long time for your order and go to enquire at the counter, this is now your first human interaction with the restaurant. Previously you would have already had a conversation with someone to place your order and pay your bill, the person at the till is aware of you and how long you have been waiting etc. With this initial interaction no longer taking place, you are reduced to a number on a screen. And when I did politely suggest that my number has been on the screen for sometime, I was told the screen is not working, you have to wait until your number is called! 2. It is no longer fast food. I worked in McDonald’s about 20 years ago and the system made sense. Predictions were made by the kitchen as to how many of each product are needed for busy and quiet periods and the products are prepared in advance. Now although the products that go in the burgers may be cooked and stored, assembly of the finished product is now by order only. The problem with this is that if you order a single drink it can take just as long as if you order an entire meal. The other problem with this change in process is that customer are now competing at the till with food delivery drivers who seem to get priority. Giving them priority does make sense from a business point of view, as they have onward travel after collection during which time the food can go cold, but this has zero benefit for the customer waiting in the restaurant.I personally think the solution is probably for McDonald’s to go down the dark kitchen route and ban the delivery drivers from their restaurants. But maybe this is just another case of an already established company with a loyal customer base being able to make more money by reducing their service offering because everyone will keep going there regardless.Found it interesting enough to reflect on though, what are your thoughts? At least there wasn’t a maniacal legless Ronald McDonald staring at the back of my head the whole time I was waiting which is more than can be said for this poor guy!

    Restaurant owners who rely on online food delivery platforms like Ubereats, Doordash and Menulog face a major problem. The delivery drivers from those food apps often cancel pick ups, arrives late, make multiple drop offs in one trip --- this causes food to turn cold and late deliveries. Customers get angry, ask for refunds and leave negative ratings and reviews. Over time, restaurant delivery sales decreases. However, not many restaurant owners know the fact that food platforms actually give the restaurants an option to use their own delivery drivers. When a restaurant has their own delivery team, they get better control over delivery times and pay only half of the normal commission that food platform charges.
