Game Recap: Baseball |

BROOKLINE, Mass. – In its last home game of the year, Northeastern (38-15, 18-9 CAA) swept Stony Brook (24-28, 12-15 CAA) with a final score of 12-3, ending the regular season on a four-game win streak.

After falling behind 2-0 and 3-1 in the opening two innings, the Huskies answered back to lead 8-3 after four innings. Tyler MacGregor got another three-hit game, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and one run scored. Other Huskies with multi-hit days included Luke Beckstein (2-for-3, 4R, HR, 1 RBI), Mike Sirota (2-for-3, 2R, 1 RBI, 2BB) and Jack Doyle (2-for-4, 2R, 2RBI).

  • Stony Brook struck first with two runs in the opening inning on a pair of RBI singles.
  • Luke Beckstein responded with a lead off home run, the first Husky to lead off the game with a home run since 2022, to cut the deficit to one run.
  • The Seawolves got that run back on an RBI ground out with a runner on third, leading 3-1 going into the bottom of the second.
  • Northeastern once again cut the deficit down to one run in the second inning with a sacrifice fly from Gregory Bozzo scoring Jack Doyle – Doyle reached on a single, stole second, and moved to third on an infield hit by Carmelo Musacchia.
  • The Huskies took their first lead of the game with a three-run third inning. After a lead off single for Luke Beckstein, and a walk to Mike Sirota, Alex Lane scored Beckstein from second with an RBI single.
  • Jack Doyle added another on an RBI ground out, scoring Sirota from third after a steal, and Jack Goodman belted an RBI single to right field to score Lane for the 5-3 lead.
  • Northeastern put up another big inning in the fourth, with RBI base hits from Sirota (triple), MacGregor (double), and Jack Doyle (single) to lead 8-3.
  • In the fifth it was MacGregor with another RBI base hit, scoring Sirota and Beckstein to extend the lead to seven runs at 10-3.
  • The Huskies added one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings – in the sixth Gregory Bozzo snuck a single down the right field line to score Doyle, and Luke Beckstein ran home from third on a bases-loaded double play in the seventh.
  • Starting pitcher Michael Gemma worked the opening two innings allowing just one earned run on five hits and no walks. He earned one strikeout to end the second inning.
  • A combination of six bullpen arms worked to shutout the Seawolves for the rest of the contest, starting with Jake Gigliotti in the third, fourth, and fifth allowing just three hits and striking out three.
  • Aiven Cabral (1H, 0BB), Charlie Walker (0H, 0BB, 1K) and Dennis Colleran (0H, 0BB) each worked a full inning in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.
  • In the ninth, Hayden Smith notched his first strikeout of the year before giving way to James Quinlivan, who induced a fly out and ground out to end the game.
  • Northeastern finishes the season with a 17-3 record (.850 winning percentage), the best home record by winning percentage since the 2021 season (21-2, .913).

With the results on the weekend, the Huskies clinched the #3 seed in the CAA Tournament – they'll play next Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. against the #6 seed, Hofstra.
