This summer, the brand new island destination called Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will open to cruisers. Then in December, the new Disney Treasure cruise ship will take its maiden voyage. We’ve learned a lot about the new ship joining the fleet and now we have even more details about a highly-anticipated experience onboard!
Disney finally gave the people what they didn’t know they needed — Disney parks themed bars onboard a cruise ship! The Disney Treasure will hold a Haunted Mansion Parlor and Disney fans are already freaking out about it.
We’ve already seen a look at the concept art and specific art coming to the lounge, including this bust of Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump (who played a huge role in creating the Haunted Mansion attraction).But now we have even more details and photos to share with you!
In the new updates, Disney gave us a look at the ghost fish aquarium that will be in the bar. We’re not gonna lie, this is giving us the creeps! It looks like this has been abandoned for a while with a ton of algae inside. If you put your glasses on and look real close, you can even see the captain’s hat at the bottom of the aquarium! Uh oh…
Disney commented on the storyline saying, “Legends passed down from The Captain’s devoted crew recount how he was last seen heading to his parlor for a special meal prepared by his betrothed. All that remained after The Captain and his bride seemingly vanished was his hat, which was found floating in the aquarium tank. Perhaps his disappearance grants a new meaning to ‘fish food.'”
This concept came from none other than Rolly Crump when he thought up the “Museum of Weird”, and over 50 years later, the “Aquarium with Ghost Fish” is finally coming to life.
Blending nostalgia with a fresh layer of lore, the aquarium will fold into the curious backstory of the parlor’s former sea captain owner. Legends passed down from The Captain’s devoted crew recount how he was last seen heading to his parlor for a special meal prepared by his betrothed. All that remained after The Captain and his bride seemingly vanished was his hat, which was found floating in the aquarium tank. Perhaps his disappearance grants a new meaning to “fish food.”
There’s also a sneak peek at some portraits coming to the gallery in the lounge. You’ll have to keep your eye out for the Mariner Ghost…
…as well as the Bride! This is her in a mortal state and you may notice she has flowers in her hand in this portrait.
However, in a similar portrait, she looks like some sort of sea monster or mermaid? A fun detail we already noticed here — the flowers she was holding have turned into an ax! 😱 It takes inspiration from the iconic “cat lady” portrait in the Haunted Mansion ride and this one will also flicker to show her true colors.
Both the flowers and ax are featured on what looks like a tiki mug themed after “The Bride”.
Disney also shared a look at “The Mariner” tiki mug. Disney said this is a Disney Cruise Line-exclusive commemorative mug collection that will debut on the Disney Treasure!

Disneyland has about three months to finish the Haunted Mansion renovation if the Anaheim theme park hopes to open the classic dark ride by the start of Halloween Time 2024 on Aug. 23 at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
Since opening its foreboding front doors at Disneyland Park in 1969, the Haunted Mansion and the lore surrounding it has captured the mortal hearts of Disney Parks goers, inspiring three subsequent attractions, multiple film adaptations, merchandise lines and plans for a soon-to-debut bar onboard the Disney Treasure.
The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland is closing temporarily in 2024 to add some new additions, including an expanded outdoor queue and a new retail shop. The attraction closed on January 22, 2024 for construction, and no reopening date has been announced yet. What is Disney doing to the Haunted Mansion?
The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland is getting a new garden in the outdoor queue. Construction begins in January 2024. The ride queue itself is set to be completely overhauled, with additional theming and more interactive elements to keep guests entertained as they wait to board their Doom Buggy.
Haunted Mansion officially closed for refurbishment as of January 21st, 2024, and we can expect this closure to last a little longer than we'd like. While all the holiday overlay theming will obviously be coming out of the ride during this closure, more extensive projects will also be just beginning.

When you enter the mansion, you'll be taken into the stretching room for a brief introduction/preshow by the Ghost Host. The Disneyland version employs an elevator to create the effect that the room stretches; in Disney World, the ceiling goes up instead.
It only made about $33.3 million globally at the box office on opening weekend, which is disappointing given the large budget required for production — at least $150 million (via Forbes). The film's domestic total was a disappointing $67 million, with a worldwide total of $116 million.
In terms of scariness this film has infrequent jump scares, when they do appear they are scary (the scariest is at the beginning) the music adds creepy vibes and the ghosts themselves do have scary designs Characters are chased and axes are thrown and the hatbox ghost is menacing.
Disney announced in September 2022 that the Hatbox Ghost would be coming to Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion, with fans waiting more than a year for his arrival. The Hatbox Ghost was originally conceptualized as part of the Haunted Mansion attraction in Disneyland before it opened in 1969.
At Haunted Mansion, Imagineers will enrich the existing story by focusing on three characters: Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and a one-eyed cat. The idea here is to leave most of the core characters of Haunted Mansion alone.
The Haunted Mansion typically closes for two and half weeks in late August so it can be converted into the Haunted Mansion Holiday. The overlaid attraction is then open to guests from September through early January before being closed again to remove the overlay.
The Blue Bayou restaurant in New Orleans Square will close Jan.7-19 for refurbishment, according to the Disneyland website. Blue Bayou underwent a six-week refurbishment in spring 2022 while Pirates of the Caribbean was closed for an extended rehab.
