She worked as assistant director of special education for 11 years with the Ogle County Educational Cooperative, where she focused her attention and concern on the community's children with disabilities. She was the children's advocate and their best friend, campaigning for their needs regardless of constraints and challenges. Survivors include her six children, Jennifer, David (Amy), Christopher (Tracie), Mark (Angela), Randy (Marisa) and John (Ellen); seven grandchildren, Reilly, Andrew, Matthew, Luke, Jacob, Laine and Grace; two sisters, Karen Schue and Mary (Jim) Greenen; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Docka; and a brother, John Docka.

The visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 19, at Fitzgerald Associates Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Drive, Rockford. The visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, until the funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.

For information, call (815) 385-2400. McHENRY Bonnie S. Dickman, 53, of McHenry, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Northern Illinois Medical Center. She was born Aug. 11, 1949, in Milwaukee, to Thomas and Gloria J.

(Johnson) Bradley. On Dec. 22, 1988, she married Robert E. Dickman. Mrs.

Dickman was a resident of McHenry for many years. Most recently, she was employed as a nurse technician at Northern Illinois Medical Center. Previously, she worked at Royal Terrace and The Fountains of Crystal Lake. Among her enjoyments were taking walks, running and animals, especially her dogs. A favorite hobby was oil painting.

She enjoyed painting portraits, landscapes and horses. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in McHenry. Survivors include her husband of 14 years; a daughter, Gretchen (Brian) Haughey of Cary; her mother, Gloria Peterson of Florida; a sister, Shari (Mark) Bohner of Elgin; two nieces, Chelsea and Kayla; and her mother-in-law, Marion Drafall of McHenry. She was preceded in death by her father.

Hooker, 75, a resident of Incline Village, since summer 2002, died Thursday, May 8, 2003. He was born April 24, 1928, in Chicago, and was raised at Norwegian Lutheran Children's Home in Park Ridge. Mr. Hooker attended Bethany Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake until he moved to Nevada, where he attended North Tahoe Community Church. He was an accountant for most of his life.

His retirement was spent in Illinois, Arizona and Nevada. He was a member of the National Guard and was involved with 4 4-H, Crystal Lake Heraldry Guard Marching Band and several drum and bugle corps, including the Guardsmen of Illinois and Santa Clara Vanguard in California. Survivors include a son, Douglas of Phoenix; five daughters, Barbara (Gene) Mosher of Eugene, Cynthia Bockman of Woodstock, Anita Hooker of Riverside, Evelyn (Mark) Brockway of Incline Village and Lisa (Robert) Skiera of Wauconda; a sister-in-law, Judy (William) Andes of Woodstock; and 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Shirin, Briana, Tony, Angelo, D'Andre, John, Mary, Brittany, Kasey, Nicholas, Ashley, Amber, Aubrey, Steven, Kyle, Kevin and A.J. He was preceded in death by his wife of three years, Joan; and his twin daughters, Deborah and Carol. The visitation will be from 2 p.m.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Tracie Banser; and 12 nieces and nephews, Tom Falduto, Sue Zimmerman, Corliss Westerman, Marti Giese, Ro Gabl, Valeree Salduto, Joannie Cohen, Denise Freier, Elizabeth Lombardo, Kimberly Fabbri, Donna Packer and Christopher Taylor. She was a greataunt to 20 and great -great -aunt to one. 23, 1934, in Ransom, to William T. and Sadie (Patrick) Carter. On April 11, 1956, in Ransom, she married Lloyd Smith. She was retired secretary. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marengo for almost 30 years.

She taught children's Sunday school and was the church leader for the Women on Missions program. She did volunteer work at Florence Nursing Home, doing hair in the beauty shop for 14 years. Surviving are her husband; two children, Steven Smith and Karen (Wm.) Palakie, both of Marengo; a granddaughter, Rhiannon Krause of Marengo; a sister, Pamela (Don) Moehling of Marengo; and four brothers, James. (Etta) Carter of Bill (Rita) Carter of Ohio, Gary (Sue) Carter of West Chicago and Don (Mag) Carter of Marengo. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Hershell Carter.
