Considering that both of The Incredibles movies were nominated for Oscars under his direction, with the original movie winning, Bird is undoubtedly the safest bet to round out the trilogy.

Brad Bird is not only widely acclaimed for his work on The Incredibles, but he is at large a legend in animation for his work on other celebrated classics. His feature directorial debut was 1999's The Iron Giant, which is still considered one of the greatest animated features ever made. Bird also wrote and directed 2007's Ratatouille, which also won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. In order to make sure The Incredibles 3 extends the franchise as opposed to deflating it, Brad Bird must be brought on to write and direct. Directing any spin-offs and future sequels is another discussion, but Bird really should complete the trilogy.
