Tired of missing important messages? Pixel phones are rolling out a clever update designed to make sure you never overlook notifications from your most important contacts! As part of the November 2025 Feature Drop, Pixel VIPs are getting some attention, and the changes are designed to keep you informed.
One of the key updates revolves around prioritized notifications. The VIPs (Google Contacts) homescreen widget now displays a crisis badge when a contact's address is facing severe weather alerts like flooding or wildfires. This is in addition to the existing birthday reminders badge.
But here's where it gets really interesting: message notifications from your Pixel VIPs are now prioritized. Instead of the standard, easily-missed message icon, you'll see their profile avatar directly in your Pixel's status bar and always-on display (AOD). This is a much more eye-catching way to ensure you don't miss those crucial messages.
On the lockscreen and notification shade, the app icon in the corner is now highlighted in yellow. This feature applies to apps like Google Messages and WhatsApp, making it even easier to spot those VIP notifications at a glance.
These prioritized notifications are available for Pixel 6 and newer models. To get this update, make sure you're running the latest version of the app (specifically, version 1.0.825435921). Keep in mind that there's also a server-side component, so the rollout might take a little time to reach everyone.
Could this level of notification prioritization become the new standard? What do you think about the yellow highlighting? Share your thoughts in the comments!
