DIRECTV (owned 70% by AT&T) has two available products: DIRECTV (a satellite-delivered service) and DIRECTVstream (a streaming service superficially like U-verse TV). They also technically own U-verse TV, but it is totally supported and operated by AT&T. You would not have implicitly been converted from U-verse TV to DIRECTV stream as the services don't use the same equipment (though the DIRECTV stream equipment is optional, the U-verse TV equipment wouldn't work with DIRECTV stream).

Are you referring to what shows up on your online account? There are 3 separate services which have nothing to do with each other: U-verse TV DirecTV (satellite) DirecTV Streaming (formerly AT&T TV, AT&T TV Now, or DirecTV Now)

Your mileage may vary regarding how demanding the salesperson is to convince you to go with DirecTV satellite or Streaming instead. But nonetheless U-verse can be ordered. The catch is that sales dept. no longer offers promotions for U-verse TV. They will only sell it at the full rack rate price. Loyalty dept. still has U-verse TV promotions. There are no more contracts for U-verse TV. So you can order new service at the rack rate, then call loyalty a week later and receive a $40 off 12 month promotion after threatening to cancel. Often you only need to threaten cancelling to the robo system to get through to loyalty. Simply asking the loyalty reps for a new promotion usually gets the job done for me. If they don't give you a promotion, you actually can cancel after only a week or at any time since there are no more contracts.

If you are an existing Uverse TV customer, so can still make changes to your package. But it's gone for new signups...has been for some time now.

I speak from experience. Things have changed a few times since the AT&T TV national launch in March 2020. First you couldn’t move or order U-verse, then you could move but not order, now you can move or order with no sales promotions. I just recently ordered a brand new account U-basic and U-verse voice. Scheduled to install in about 2 weeks from now. Unless it varies by market which I’m not aware of.

It doesn't appear in the self-service portals. (aka, humanless internet ordering) Chat with sales drone, they could not create a new service account. (they can see it still exists, and there are billing codes, etc., but any attempt to create a new account with UTV on it would not go through. That was in a downstream of the Charlotte NC market.)

Are you already an ATT customer: “No” This gets you to the upper echelon of sales people which are in the US. Low down sales people and foreign call centres don’t handle POTS.

Ended up switching to YouTube TV in 2020 when U-verse got too expensive. The UI annoyed us though so we switched to AT&T TV (now DTV Stream) and have Osprey boxes from eBay. Overall, we enjoy the service.
